What is a Tax Credit?
A tax credit actually reduces the amount of Arizona income tax payable to the state. This is not a tax deduction. It is a way for you to actually redirect your tax dollars to worthwhile causes of your choice. If your return qualifies, we ask you to choose Administer Justice for your tax credit. Please make sure to talk with your accountant or tax consultant about this.
How many Tax Credits are there?
The State of Arizona recognizes three tax credits. One is the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit for the Working Poor. The other two relate to public and private schools.
Am I allowed to take more than one credit?
Yes, if you qualify. It is possible to take advantage of all three credits.
Which Tax Credit do I use for Administer Justice?
In 1998, Arizona authorized a Tax Credit for the working poor. This is available to eligible taxpayers who help qualifying charitable organizations that provide assistance to basic needs of the poor. For married taxpayers filing jointly, the maximum is $800.
